Q&A: Johnny Mundo compares WWE and Lucha Underground

WASHINGTON — “From Johnny Mundo, you can expect the unexpected. You can expect to have your faces melted by the awesomeness of Mundo’s wrestling.”

That’s the experience you will encounter Wednesday at 8 p.m. when Season 2 of “Lucha Underground” kicks off on the El Rey Network, according to the star Johnny Mundo.

Known as John Morrison in WWE circles, Mundo calls Lucha Underground “the evolution of wrestling” and is special because everyone is intertwined, male and female wrestlers alike.

Johnny did not want to give us any spoilers for Wednesday night’s show, but he joined WTOP’s Chris Cichon to discuss his experience on WWE’s “Tough Enough,” some of his inspirations as he rose the ranks of wrestling, and how trust is so important when it comes to high-flying action in the ring.
