West End Cinema to re-open as Landmark later this month

WASHINGTON — A Foggy Bottom fixture is returning.

The Washington Post reports the West End Cinema will reopen later this month.

A giant sign in the window now shows “Opening July 17, 2015” with a “Landmark Theatres” logo.

The theater closed suddenly back on March 29.

At that time, co-founder Josh Levin told WTOP he was facing “increased occupancy cost and increase competition for (movie) titles.”

The Post reports the new theater will have two active screens until upgrades are made, while the concession area will serve alcohol and snacks.
