WASHINGTON — Forget itty-bitty bikinis — the National Costume round of the Miss Universe competition is becoming the most jaw-dropping segment of pageant.
The contestants showed off their selections on Jan. 21 during the 63rd annual Miss Universe Competition in Miami.
During the segment, women wear outfits that represent a key element of the culture of their home country.
One particularly stunning ensemble was worn by Miss Canada, Chanel Beckenlehner, who showed off a hockey-inspired costume complete with shoulder and elbow pads, a Stanley Cup tiara, a hockey-goal shaped skirt, hockey-stick wings and a scoreboard overhead.
The Miss Universe pageant will air Sunday, Jan. 25.
