Jon Stewart, Conan react to Charlie Hebdo attack

WASHINGTON – The world of late-night comedy is responding to the deadly attack on the satirical cartoonists of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.

Jon Stewart offered his condolences on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show.”

“Comedy shouldn’t have to be an act of courage,” Stewart said. “They were killed for their cartoons, a stark reminder that, for the most part, the legislators and journalists and institutions that we jab and ridicule are not in any way the enemy. For however frustrating or outraged the back-and-forth can become, it’s still … a conversation among those on, let’s call it, ‘Team Civilization.'”

Conan O’Brien added his thoughts on “Conan” on TBS.

“This story really hits home for anyone who, day in and day out, mocks political, social and religious figures,” O’Brien said.
