Feed the Fridge
Feed the Fridge is an effort to bring nourishment where there is hunger while helping small, local restaurants stay in business. Your donation goes directly to fill fridges around the community with nutritious, restaurant-prepared meals. All meals are free for community members to take. No sign-ups and no questions asked. All of the money raised is poured back into the local economy because Feed the Fridge pays local restaurants for every meal that stocks the fridges. Feed the Fridge donors saw the impact they were making on the community during the pandemic. They delivered meals to the elderly who could not leave their homes. Feed the Fridge expanded as quickly as we could to get meals right to the people. Donors should support Feed the Fridge because they are feeding the local community while supporting the local economy. They use the restaurant’s expertise to bring the meals directly to the people. Your neighbors are hungry and they need more than a box of raw goods from the food pantry. Many people are unable to cook for themselves. Feed the Fridge’s program provides nutritious meals without the shame of waiting in line to possibly be turned away because all of the boxes have been taken. Fridges are stocked every weekday.

The Greater Washington Community Foundation
The Community Foundation has served as our community’s trusted philanthropic partner for nearly 50 years. Since 1973, they have invested more than $1.4 billion to address critical community needs, from helping more families remain stably housed, to ensuring more students get a quality education, to supporting more workers as they launch family-sustaining careers. Now, their strategic focus is to close our region’s racial wealth gap and build more equitable, just, and thriving communities where everyone prospers. They are proud to feature several of our community impact initiatives as part of the Live Local campaign. They hope this campaign encourages more people to give where they live and join our community of neighbors helping neighbors.
