District officials are putting the finishing touches on some additional amendments to the city’s full comprehensive plan just as lawmakers finalize an opening round of changes to the influential development document.
The D.C. Office of Planning now expects to release a draft of the full amended plan on Oct. 15, a spokeswoman for the agency said Thursday. That will kick off the beginning of a two-month-long public review period, during which planners will accept comments on the document before advancing the amendments to the D.C. Council.
Lawmakers are currently set to approve changes to the plan’s “framework element,” essentially an introductory chapter, on Oct. 8. But that is simply the first step in the broader process of amending the document’s other elements, which include chapters on housing, land use, transportation and two maps showing recommended development patterns for the District’s neighborhoods.
