WASHINGTON — A man died after he was shot multiple times in D.C. Thursday evening, police said Friday.
Around 5:30 p.m., police responded to the 200 block of 50th Street in Northeast after hearing gunshots. When they arrived, they found a man, later identified as 38-year-old Rondell Wills, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Wills was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
During a Thursday evening news conference, D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said the victim in the Northeast shooting had been shot multiple times.
The shooting in the 200 block of 50th Street, Northeast occurred around the same time as another fatal shooting in D.C. where a man and woman were gunned down in a targeted attack. A car pulled up next to theirs in the 3700 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard in Southeast around 5 p.m. A surveillance camera captured a vehicle of interest in the shooting — a white, 4-door Hyundai Accent.
On Friday, police identified the victims as 23 year-old Mecca India Tyshea Gravette and 25 year-old Sukarno Turner — both of D.C. Police have not released any additional details about the nature of the victims’ relationship.
Newsham said it’s unlikely the same suspects are responsible for both Thursday evening shootings, given the distance and timing with the two.
Suspects in both cases are still at large.
The D.C. police are offering a reward of up to $25,000 in both cases for anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest and conviction of the suspects. Anyone with information about the cases can call police at 202-727-9099.
