WASHINGTON — The number of recent attacks on area speed cameras is now up to 13: The D.C. police announced on Monday two new cases, on top of 11 that occurred in February.

“We’re looking at the possibility that these cases are connected and urge the public to come forward with any information,” Metropolitan Police Department spokeswoman Rachel Schaerr Reid said in an email.

The speed camera in the 3700 block of Southern Avenue, in Southeast D.C., was vandalized and knocked down on April 12 at about 1 a.m., and again about 5:15 a.m. on April 19.

There were 11 destruction of property cases in relation to speed cameras on Feb. 20, mostly in Northeast.

Police have images and surveillance video of the suspect or suspects and three vehicles used during some of the attacks.

Watch the April 12 surveillance video below.

In the earlier cases, the vandal used a dark-colored SUV. The more recent attacks have involved the use of a dark-colored SUV, believed to be a Hyundai Santa Fe, and a dark colored pickup truck with items piled up in the truck bed, seen in the photo gallery above.

Anyone with information about either the vehicles or suspect(s) is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099, or by texting the information to 50411.
