WASHINGTON — An off-duty D.C. police officer was killed Friday while riding a motorcycle in Clinton, Maryland.
It happened in the 9100 block of Piscataway Road. Jamal Shaw was riding his own motorcycle when a vehicle on the right lane abruptly changed lanes, a Prince George’s County police spokesman said.
Shaw tried to “lay down” his motorcycle when another vehicle, driving in the opposite directions, struck him. He was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the striking vehicle was not hurt.
Shaw joined D.C. police in 2015 and was assigned to the First District.
Piscataway Road was closed for several hours.
