WASHINGTON — D.C. police say a Sterling, Virginia, man was shot in the eye through the windshield of the car he was riding in Sunday morning following an argument with a man on the street in Dupont Circle.
The shooting happened just after 1 a.m. in the 1300 block of Connecticut Avenue NW, according to an incident report.
Wuilian Cruz, of Sterling, was being driven along Connecticut Ave. when Cruz, who was sitting in the front passenger seat, allegedly began arguing with the suspected gunman, who was standing at a parked vehicle.
After a brief argument, the suspect shot once through the car’s windshield, striking Cruz in the left eye.
The driver told police he sped off and dialed 911.
Cruz’s condition is unknown.
Police say they canvassed the area and found no sign of the suspected shooter.
They’re looking for a male, 5 feet 6 inches, about 160 lbs., who was wearing a black polo shirt.
He faces charges of assault with intent to kill.

A WTOP reader and listener reported that there was heavy police presence at the circle, which police had closed for the investigation. She said that there were some 30 police, fire and first-responder vehicles on the scene and traffic was backed up.
The Dupont Circle shooting is the latest in a spate of gun violence that hit the D.C. area this weekend: six people were shot and one person was killed in less than 12 hours.
Police reopened all the roads leading into Dupont Circle around 9 a.m. Sunday.
