Police: DC officer dragged by car during traffic stop

WASHINGTON — A man is in police custody after he dragged an officer with his car during a traffic stop in D.C. Thursday morning, authorities said.

Marc Terrence Tapp, 28, of Northwest was arrested following a pursuit after he dragged an officer a few feet with his vehicle at a traffic stop.

Officer James O’Bannon was conducting the traffic stop around 2 a.m. on New York Avenue and 12th Street in Northwest D.C. He was not injured.

Tapp was caught and arrested on Brentwood Road and Monroe Street in Northeast. He is charged with assaulting an officer, reckless driving and fleeing from a law enforcement officer in a motor vehicle.
