WASHINGTON (AP) — D.C. police have arrested a man they say committed two fatal shootings more than 10 years ago.
The department said in a news release that Terik McLeod, 31, of Southeast D.C. was arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Officers say 17-year-old Devaun Drayton of Northeast D.C. was shot and killed in March 2004. Carlton Fisher, 23, also of Northeast D.C. was fatally shot in October 2006.
Acting Police Chief Peter Newsham told The Washington Post that the first shooting was committed over a dispute with Drayton. He says Fisher witnessed the shooting and was slain two years later.
Newsham says detectives developed a new witness who helped lead them to the suspect.
