Active shooter drill planned at Navy Yard

WASHINGTON — If you go by the Washington Navy Yard Wednesday morning and see or hear security activities, realize that it’s all part of a drill.

Naval Support Activity Washington and D.C. police will conduct an active shooter exercise.

It’s set to begin at 8:30 a.m. and last no more than an hour.

The Navy Yard will be “locked down” and closed to vehicle and pedestrian traffic.

Officials say this is a required annual exercise, and no response is needed for those located outside of the Navy Yard.
