Changes in parking, traffic rules in DC for Emancipation Day

WASHINGTON — Today is not just Easter Monday but also Emancipation Day in D.C., which means changes to the normal traffic and parking laws around the city.

The typical rush-hour parking restrictions are not in effect in D.C.

Meters and residential parking rules are also not in effect, although drivers on the H Street Northeast corridor still need to watch out for the streetcar.

All non-emergency road construction has been suspended in the District.

Reversible lanes on Connecticut Avenue and 16th Street will not be used.

However, the reversible lanes that run on Canal Road, Independence Avenue and Rock Creek Parkway will be in effect.
