WASHINGTON — There’s a little shop in the Cleveland Park neighborhood of Northwest D.C., recognizable by the dozens of colorful Post-its tacked onto the storefront window.
Pink, yellow, orange — the memos are a range of colors and shapes, but they all have one thing in common: heartfelt words of gratitude from customers of Wake Up Little Suzie to President Barack Obama and his family.
“Thank you is too small a word for all you both gave,” reads a note left by just one of hundreds of customers. “We are better for your service.”
The shop, which started off as an antique clothing store through the 1980s, switched gears in 1988 to sell all sorts of crafts, jewelry and knickknacks. Now, Wake Up Little Suzie is where anyone can drop by and leave a message for the 44th president of the United States.
Wake Up Little Suzie is located on 3409 Connecticut Ave. NW, open Monday to Friday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m.
