WASHINGTON — A man has been charged in the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Breyona McMillian at a housing complex near Capitol Hill the morning after Thanksgiving.
Saeve Evans, 30, was charged with second-degree felony murder, police said Saturday.
Evans is the same man who had been identified as a person of interest in McMillian’s killing back in November.
The shooting happened at around 11:45 a.m. Nov. 25.
McMillian, who was known to friends and family as “Bree,” was found shot multiple times at the Potomac Gardens apartments in the 1200 block of I Street in Southeast.
Police said surveillance footage showed Evans firing a weapon in the area where she was shot. He turned himself in on a weapons charge tied to the incident and has been in jail since Nov. 30.
Evans is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, D.C. court records show.
