Vigil held for teen killed in Anacostia double shooting

WASHINGTON — Friends, families and neighbors of 17-year-old Kevin Jackson gathered Sunday for a vigil to remember his life.

“I just want people to pray for my son,” Jackson’s father told NBC Washington. “Use his death as something to allow you to be something different than another young, black man lying on the street dead,” he said.

Jackson was was shot Thursday on a residential street in Anacostia. He and another man were both shot around 2:15 p.m. Jackson was found in the 1900 block of 16th Street SE. The other man was found on 17th Street SE and was taken to a local hospital in critical but stable condition.
