Vehicle strikes Secret Service officer near White House

WASHINGTON — A car struck a Secret Service officer near the White House Monday, sending him to the hospital.

Around 1:30 p.m., an officer was riding his motorcycle when he was hit by a vehicle near the intersection of 15th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue NW near the White House. Photos after the crash appear to show the driver stayed at the scene.

Emergency crews transported the officer to a nearby hospital with nonlife threatening injuries, said U.S. Park Police spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Rose.
