Police: DC woman lures children into home, sexually assaults them

WASHINGTON — A woman is facing child sexual abuse charges after D.C. police say she lured three children into her home and sexually assaulted them.

According to police, the incident occurred in the 3500 block of Clay Place NE last month.

The woman, identified as 42-year-old Larona Steele, lured the three children into her home by offering them ice cream and popcorn. Police say once inside, she locked the door and directed the victims to perform sexual acts on her.

Police believe Steele targeted children under the notion of selling them candy from her home. Police also believe there may be additional victims.

Authorities have not released the ages of the victims, only identifying them as juveniles.

Steele was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree child sexual abuse.

Anyone who has had past inappropriate encounters with the suspect or has information that would assist in the investigation is asked to contact police at 202-727-9099.
