WASHINGTON — Freedom has left the nest.
At around 2:30 p.m. Sunday, the 11-week old eaglet named Freedom spread her wings and flew from nest at the U.S. National Arboretum and onto a branch of a nearby tree.
Freedom is one of the two young eagles residing in the nest of “Mr. President” and “The First Lady.” News of their hatchings went viral thanks to a live eagle cam that captured the moment.
The American Eagle Foundation says Freedom could possibly return to the nest for food and her brother, Liberty, may take his first flight very soon.
