DC school on lockdown after Southeast shooting

WASHINGTON — Police investigated a shooting Southeast D.C. Monday that caused a nearby elementary school to lock down.

D.C. police responded to the 4800 block of Texas Avenue near the Benning Road Metro station around 1 p.m. Monday for reports of a shooting. When they arrived, they found a man who had been shot several times and was unconscious.

Nearby Plummer Elementary School was placed on lockdown as a precaution while police investigated.
