WASHINGTON — A skirmish involving two D.C. judges has led to an assault charge against an administrative law judge who has been working for the District for more than a decade.
A police report shows Joan Davenport and fellow judge Sharon Goodie got involved in a physical altercation last Thursday in their office building, One Judiciary Square. Goodie told investigators Davenport lunged at her, hit her shoulder, knocked her against a wall and tried to put her arms around her throat.
Other judges had to step in and separate the two.
Davenport admitted she “tried” to grab her colleague’s throat, the police report shows. She pleaded not guilty to the misdemeanor assault charge and is out on bond, scheduled to be back in court next month.
Goodie is Davenport’s supervisor, and they have both been administrative law judges with the D.C. Office of Administrative Hearings for 10 1/2 years.
