WASHINGTON — A D.C. family finally has closure after days of believing the wrong body was in their grandmother’s casket at her funeral last week.
Turns out, it was her body after all.
WTOP’s television news partner, NBC Washington, reports that the Gray family, who said the wrong body was in their grandmother’s casket during her funeral at Horton’s Funeral Home in Northwest D.C. on Feb. 26, is now reassured that it is their grandmother, Virginia Gray.
The family visited the funeral home again on Thursday to take a second look, accompanied by Virginia Gray’s doctor.
The family was reportedly thrown off by the lighting and funeral makeup, causing them to believe their grandmother’s body was missing.
NBC Washington reports Gray’s grandchildren said they are now convinced the body is Virginia Gray’s.
She was 83 years old and was taken to the hospital Feb. 19 after she fell unconscious. She died after a short time at the hospital.
