WASHINGTON — A man shot and killed by a Metropolitan Police Department officer had a BB gun, police say.
According to police, an officer tried to stop the man, whose identity has not been released.
The officer ended up in foot chase and struggle with the man at 2:05 a.m. Monday near 53rd Street and Clay Terrace, NE.
Police say the man pulled a gun on the officer and was shot.
The man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
Police later determined the man’s gun was a BB gun.
The officer was not hurt and is on administrative leave.
