D.C. street festivals to make changes because of Trump Hotel

WASHINGTON — Pennsylvania Avenue hosts a number of street festivals in the warm-weather months that might have to make changes because of the soon-to-open Trump International Hotel in the Old Post Office Pavilion.

Taste of DC and the National Capital Barbecue Battle are held on Pennsylvania Avenue, midway between the Capitol and the White House.

But once the Trump Hotel opens, it will no longer be possible to entirely close off Pennsylvania Avenue. The hotel is scheduled to open in September.

The Washington Post reports that the city has agreed with the Trump organization that one lane of traffic must remain open so that vehicles can reach the luxury hotel.

The only exception is the presidential inaugural parade.

The Japanese cultural festival, scheduled in April, is moving from Pennsylvania Avenue to the Navy Yard.
