Two charged with running ‘pot food truck’ business

WASHINGTON – Two people in the District have been charged with distributing marijuana and accused of running what amounted to a pot food truck business.

Nicholas Cunningham, 30, and Evonne Lidoff, 18, were arrested Tuesday.

“This investigation has been going on for several months,” said D.C. Assistant Police Chief Peter Newsham.

Possession of marijuana is legal in D.C., however, investigators say what Cunningham and Lidoff were doing was far from legal.  The two are accused of driving vehicles that had pictures of marijuana painted on them while selling pot-laced brownies and other items around the city.

The business is called “Kush Gods,” named after a type of cannabis.

“We received numerous complaints from the community about these blatant sales of marijuana,” Newsham said.  “Distribution of marijuana in the District of Columbia for any type of proceeds is illegal.”

Cunningham and Lidoff claim they were not selling, but rather giving the drug away and accepting donations.

The two pleaded not guilty and are scheduled to be back in court Jan. 28.
