WASHINGTON — The head of the District’s 911 call center is reportedly out.
NBC Washington is reporting that Jennifer Greene is leaving the Office of Unified Communications, which oversees the emergency call center.
There’s no immediate word on why Greene is leaving, but the 911 center has been under scrutiny recently in the wake of delayed emergency responses.
Questions have been raised about delays in getting first responders to the deadly smoke incident near the L’Enfant Plaza Metro, and the closest paramedic was not sent to respond to a choking toddler in March. The boy later died.
Chris Geldart, the director of the District’s Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency, will oversee the center until a permanent successor is found.
