WASHINGTON – Live music, great weather and a Friday night. Most can’t think of a better combination. Jazz in the Garden is back at the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden, starting Friday May 22.
It’s one of the more popular weekly events on the Mall, as young and old make their way from work to the garden, lay down a blanket, pull out some snacks and possibly sip on something to ease into the weekend.
Jazz in the Garden is starting its annual series with a performance from jazz guitarist Tom Lagana — the first of 15 artists to play each week through Aug. 28.
Anyone will tell visitors to get arrive early and claim a spot, but the official start time is 5 p.m. running to 8:30 p.m.
For anyone staying home this Memorial Day weekend or skipping the Friday traffic, it’s one outdoor option to start the weekend.
