WASHINGTON — Several streets on and around the National Mall will be closed for much of Memorial Day for the annual parade.
The D.C. police say the following streets will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.:
- 7th Street, between Constitution Avenue Northwest and Independence Avenue Southwest (the staging area);
- Constitution Avenue between 7th and 19th streets Northwest (the parade route);
- Virginia Avenue between Constitution Avenue and 22nd Street Northwest (the dispersal area.
The parade will start at 2 p.m.
Driving through the city on Memorial Day could be tough, the police and the D.C. Department of Transportation warn, so you should probably seek a different route to get wherever you’re going. They also say you should be prepared to encounter a lot more walkers than usual.
