WASHINGTON — A two-alarm fire in a restaurant on Wisconsin Avenue, in Northwest, blocked traffic on parts of the busy road for hours on Thursday.
ABC7 reports the fire started at about 1 p.m. Thursday at the District 2 Bar and Grille, on Wisconsin Avenue and Macomb Street. The fire department told ABC7 the fire may have started in the kitchen, but it’s still investigating.
No one was hurt, but the owner of one of the businesses on the second floor of the building told ABC7 that the fact that it was New Year’s Day was fortunate; on a typical weekday, dozens of people would be working on the second floor. ABC7 says one person had to be pulled out of a second-floor window.
One firefighter suffered minor injuries. The building suffered water damage, and ABC7 says that it’s not known when the restaurant will reopen.
