WASHINGTON — A sign coming off of its post above the westbound Southeast Freeway/Interstate 695 in D.C. caused delays Tuesday morning as commuters snapped photos and transportation crews responded to the scene.

The green I-395 South to Richmond sign above the freeway at the 3rd Street Tunnel was falling off and precariously hanging above the road.

A panel of the sign designating the lanes for the upcoming exit had become detached.

The District Department of Transportation responded to the scene after 7 a.m.

Crews blocked the center lane of the road in order to fix the sign. It was fixed by 9:35 a.m.
