Metro: Blue Line service back to normal

UPDATE 7:58 a.m. 10/23/2015: Metro says repairs are complete and the Blue Line is running as normal.

EARLIER: WASHINGTON – Friday morning’s commute is becoming snarled as Metro is rerouting the Blue Line.

Emergency switch repairs outside Pentagon Station have forced Metro to reroute all Blue Line trains over the Yellow Line bridge to L’Enfant Plaza and Mount Vernon Square. That means no trains between Pentagon and Arlington Cemetery. Shuttle bus service is available, Metro says.

The Blue Line trains will be designated as Yellow Line trains, Metro adds, so anyone traveling from Virginia to a Blue Line station in D.C. needs to transfer at L’Enfant Plaza.

They say that the alternative to this rerouting would have been to single-track the Blue Line, which would have resulted in a chain reaction of delays on the Yellow and Green Lines as well.
