Service on Metro’s Orange, Blue, Silver lines restored

UPDATE: Thursday, May 21, 4:46 p.m.: Service on Metro’s Orange, Blue and Silver lines has been restored after an earlier power loss caused the line to be suspended.

Residual delays continue in both directions on all lines.

EARLIER: Thursday, May 21, 4 p.m: WASHINGTON – A loss of power on Metrorail is causing suspensions on the Orange, Blue and Silver lines Thursday afternoon.

Metro’s Orange line is suspended between Minnesota Avenue and Eastern Market. The Blue and Silver lines are suspended between Benning Road and Eastern Market.

Metro advises commuters to consider travel alternatives if planning to use the lines.

Shuttle buses will run between Benning/Minnesota, Stadium, Potomac Avenue and Eastern Market stations.

A Metro spokesman says the transit agency isn’t sure what caused the problem but hopes to have it fixed shortly.
