What’s new at Trader Joe’s for the holidays (photos)

WASHINGTON — Congratulations: You beat the holiday traffic, scored parking and have arrived at the hallowed doorway of your favorite Trader Joe’s.

Your shopping list is in hand. But as we all know, that Trader Joe’s list gets (ahem) “amended” as you come across some unexpected temptations. These creative eats are not available anywhere else.

What can you expect from Joe’s during the holidays? Check out the gallery below and prepare that next list accordingly.

Beet and Roasted Garlic Dip Tahini brings a hummus-type vibe to this beautiful red dip, which also makes a good sandwich spread. $3.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Chocolate Mint-Flavored Cupcakes These tasty cupcakes feature … OK, so you already figured it out from the name.  But did you know these cupcakes also have a chocolate ganache filling? Yeah. That happened. $3.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Cinnamon Streusel Coffee Cake     Joe’s touts a “ribbon of cinnamon” throughout this guy, making it an acceptable excuse for upping your daily caffeine intake. $6.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Extraordinary Bark     They start with a dark chocolate base, then add caramel popcorn, pretzels, almonds, mini peanut butter cups and Joe-Joe’s cookie pieces, then top it with chocolate drizzle. How thorough! It’s a welcome departure from all that peppermint bark you’ve been sprinkling on your salad of late. $3.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Glazed Walnuts With Bourbon-Barrel-Aged Maple Syrup California walnuts are glazed with a blend of cane sugar and maple syrup that was aged in white oak bourbon barrels. The complementary flavors are especially festive. $3.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Irish whiskey Caramels Not to be too melodramatic, but caramel is a life-affirming force. It’s a reason some of us get up in the morning. Joe’s, of course, is at the forefront of caramel-advancing technology. These candies, for instance, infuse the liquid gold with another life-affirming element: single-malt Irish whiskey. Then — when you thought they couldn’t improve it any further — they cover it in dark chocolate. $3.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Organic Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oil Sourced from Italy’s Puglia region, this oil has “peppery, grassy characteristics and slight fruitiness,” making it good for both cooking and bread dunking. $7.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Organic Rice & Quinoa Hot Cereal Oats are cool but can wear out their welcome. Trick out that breakfast with this blend of quinoa flakes and whole-grain brown rice grits. Then dress it up with some maple syrup or fruit. $3.69 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Hold The Cone! Peppermint These mini-cones (topped with a chocolate coating) have long been a Joe’s favorite. The holiday variation features peppermint ice cream. $2.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
Salted Caramel Flavored Hot Cocoa Enjoy the flavor of Joe’s Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Caramels in a mug. This one’s a no-brainer. $3.99 (Courtesy Trader Joe’s, copyright 2017)
