WASHINGTON — For just the next few days, you can make a phone call, request a Christmas carol, and hear someone sing it to you live.
It’s called Dial-A-Carol, a free service students in the Snyder Hall dorm at the University of Illinois have been offering for 56 years.
WTOP called and requested “O Holy Night.”
The student who answered the phone told me to hold a moment while she found the lyrics.
She also recruited three other student singers.
The result wasn’t perfect, but others listening in the WTOP newsroom gave them an “A” for effort.
Dial-A-Carol is available daily, 24-7 until 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16.
The number to call is 217-332-1882.
Watch a video of the singers in action.
