WASHINGTON — March 9 is National Meatball Day, and, if you’re hungry for a pre-lunch meatball, stop by Carmine’s.
The D.C. outpost of New York’s Carmine’s family-style Italian restaurant will dole out meatballs at the restaurant from 10 a.m. until noon on March 9, with all proceeds going to benefit the D.C. Central Kitchen.
Carmine’s, at 425 7th St., NW, opened its Penn Quarter location in 2010. The original opened in 1990 on Manhattan’s Upper West Side at 2450 Broadway.
It also has restaurants in Times Square, Atlantic City, Las Vegas and the Bahamas.
What will you get for $1 Friday?
“Seven-ounce orbs crafted with ground beef and ground veal seasoned with herbs and Romano cheese and simmered in Carmine’s made-daily marinara sauce,” the restaurant said.
D.C. Central Kitchen, founded in 1989, provides meals for shelters and nonprofits, and runs culinary training for jobless adults.
