WASHINGTON — Falls Church, Virginia-based Kastle Systems, one of the biggest commercial real estate security system providers in the country, has acquired District-based Urban Alarm for an undisclosed sum.
Urban Alarm, founded in 2003, provides both security and patrol services to a mix of high-end, single-family residential communities, as well as commercial, institutional and property management companies throughout of the D.C. area.
It is responsible for many security systems for embassies and ambassador residents.
Urban Alarm also worked with Kastle Systems on security systems for the new, 3-million-square foot mixed-use The Wharf project, from development team Hoffman-Madison, on D.C.’s Southwest Waterfront.
“We are thrilled to bring Urban Alarm into the Kastle family and to expand our business into several new areas including the single-family residential market,” said Kastle Systems chairman Mark Ein.
Ein bought Kastle Systems in 2007. He also owns the Washington Kastles tennis team.
Kastle Systems, in business for more than 45 years, operates and manages security systems for clients remotely at more than 10,000 locations nationwide and internationally.
In 2013, Kastle Systems expanded its New York presence with the acquisition of a security subsidiary of The ADT Corp, Mutual Central Alarm Services and Stat-Land Security Systems, which protects financial service, jewelers and retail stores in the New York City area.
