Earth Fare, ‘Healthy Food for Everyone’ opens in Fairfax

WASHINGTON — North Carolina-based organic grocer Earth Fare opens its first D.C.-area location Wednesday in Fairfax, Virginia.

The 20,000-square-foot store is at 11052 Lee Highway, part of the Kamp Washington development managed by Regency Centers, at the corner of Fairfax Boulevard and Lee Highway.

It is Earth Fare’s second store in Virginia — one in Roanoke opened last fall — and its 45th store in 10 states.

There is a long list of things you won’t find sold at Earth Fare, including high fructose corn syrup, artificial fats and transfats, artificial colors, artificial preservatives, artificial sweeteners, bleached or bromate flour, and meats and poultry treated with antibiotics or growth hormones.

Earth Fare also has more than 750 private brand food products sourced using only non-GMO ingredients.

Earth Fare, whose slogan is “Healthy Food for Everyone,” was founded in 1975.

“Americans deserve a store where they can find all of the products they need to help their families lead longer, healthier lives, and we are looking forward to bringing our mission of providing healthy food for everyone to the Fairfax community,” said Frank Scorpinito, Earth Fare chief executive.

The Fairfax store also includes an Heirloom Organic Juice Bar and ready-to-go foods, including a salad bar, hot foods bar, pizza station and sandwich counter.

Earth Fare joins Cava Mezze Grill and Chipotle Mexican Grill at the recently redeveloped Kamp Washington.

Earth Fare has a number of gift cards and giveaways planned for its Jan. 10 grand opening and grand-opening week in Fairfax.
