WASHINGTON — Five out-of-town retailers have opened holiday season pop-up stores in Georgetown, the majority of which have the landlord’s option to stick around D.C. for good.
Georgetown landlords EastBanc Inc., Jamestown LP and Acadia Realty Trust have signed short term leases with what they call up-and-coming brands that picked Georgetown as the ideal home to reach D.C. trendsetters.
Eyewear designer Illesteva opened its Georgetown pop-up at 3306 M St., NW and will be open through at least April.
Men’s clothing store State & Liberty’s pop-up store at 3035 M St., NW will be open through the end of December.
In early November, jewelers AUrate New York opened its first D.C. pop-up at 3263 M St., NW and will be open until at least March.
Cycling clothing and accessory retailer Rapha’s pop-up Clubhouse at 3025 M St., NW will be open through at least February.
Designer goods and furniture shop MacKenzie-Childs’ first pop-up outside of New York is open at 1037 33rd St., NW, and will operate until July.
“2017 has shown our partnership that despite the difficulties some brands are having nationally, Georgetown remains a diverse and growing retail environment,” said EastBanc principal Philippe Lanier.
“To date, every brand that has tried a temporary location in Georgetown has shown interest in a longer-term solution to maintain a presence here.”
All of the lease agreements, with the exception of State & Liberty, have the option of being extended indefinitely.
