WASHINGTON — Hilton’s newest resort includes the first golf course in Tibet.
Hilton just opened Hilton Linzhi Resort, between the Himalayas and the Yarlung Zangbo River, on 800 acres at an elevation of about 9,800 feet.
The resort includes 220 rooms and suites, meetings and events spaces, and a fitness center and spa. It also includes four restaurants.
“We are constantly looking to be in the places that most matter to our guests, and Tibet — or as locals refer to it, ‘The Throne of the Sun’ — is a remarkable, culturally vibrant area to debut our flagship brand,” said Sean Wooden, vice president of brand management, Asia Pacific for Hilton.
Hilton says the region’s tourism growth has benefitted from ongoing efforts by the Tibet Tourism Bureau.
The Guinness Book of World Records says the world’s highest golf course is the Yak golf course, in Kupup, East Sikkim, India, at 13,025 feet.
