Redskins-themed Hail & Hog files for bankruptcy

WASHINGTON — Less than eight months after opening, the Redskins-themed sports bar and restaurant Hail & Hog Kitchen & Tap has filed for bankruptcy protection, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Hail & Hog will stay open during its Chapter 11 reorganization. The bankruptcy filing is the result of unpaid contractor bills from the restaurant’s construction, The Wall Street Journal reports.

Hail & Hog made a splash when it opened its 12,000-square-foot, two-level restaurant with roof deck at One Loudoun Downtown District in May.

The restaurant is owned by Houston-based operator Great Grille Group, which runs restaurants in Columbus, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis and Houston, including sports-themed restaurants for the Colts and Texans.

Hail & Hog includes a radio and television studio for Redskins broadcasts, a second floor with wall-to-wall televisions, and rooftop bar and two restaurants.

The name pays homage to “Hail to the Redskins” and “The Hogs,” the Redskins storied offensive line in the 1980s and 1990s.

One Loudoun is located at Va. 7 and the Loudoun County Parkway, three miles from Dulles International Airport.
