Pinot’s Palette plans big DC-area expansion

WASHINGTON — Can’t paint? Maybe a glass of wine will help.

The Houston-based “paint and sip” chain Pinot’s Palette, which already has studio locations in Herndon, Virginia, and Ellicott City, Maryland, has expansion plans for the Greater Washington area, with a goal to open 14 additional studios in the next 24 months.

It has not identified specific locations for the new studios.

The concept is straightforward: You get a canvas and paint; professional artists serve as the instructors, and beer and wine is served.

“Girls’ night out, bachelorette parties, corporate events, private parties. We do private parties and public classes, so if you don’t have enough people for a private party, you can always come to one of the public classes that we host,” Pinot’s Palette President Charles Willis told WTOP.

“The Washington market provides the perfect upscale demographics to broaden our network,” he said.

With more than 180 locations either open or under development, Pinot’s Palette also calls itself one of the largest employers of professional artists, who serve as class instructors.

“Our artists want to make sure that art is accessible to everyone, and to show that yes, there are different levels of art and everybody can achieve different levels based on their talents and how much they practice,” Willis said.

No painting skills are required. All supplies are included, and many locations curate the wine and beer selections based on local wineries and craft brewers.

Prices start at around $35.
