Amazon starts its Black Friday deals early

WASHINGTON — If we have to get dragged into the Christmas season right after Halloween, at least Amazon is starting the good part early as well: Their Black Friday deals started at midnight Tuesday.

Amazon’s Black Friday shop is active through Dec. 22, with sales on electronics, outerwear, jewelry and more. The retailer promises in a statement up to 20 rotating Deals of the Day and new items on the page “as often as every five minutes.”

Amazon also says they’re offering more than a dozen “curated holiday gift guides” for electronics, home goods and more, as well as updates to their mobile app and Alexa voice-activated shopping.

USA Today reports that Amazon is luring people into their $99 annual Prime membership by offering a discount on pre-order and new release video games, as well as a head start on “Lightning Deals.” They’ll also hire 120,000 temporary workers for the holidays, up from last year’s 100,000.
