WASHINGTON — Rose’s Luxury owner-chef Aaron Silverman was named the Best Chef in the Mid-Atlantic at Monday night’s prestigious James Beard Foundation awards in Chicago.

Silverman opened Rose’s Luxury, a small restaurant in Southeast D.C.’s Barracks Row in 2013, with diners willing to stand in line for an hour or longer to get a table.

His new restaurant, Pineapple and Pearls, next door, opens this week.

It is the latest accolade for Silverman. He won Bon Appétit’s Best New Restaurant title last year. Last month, Food & Wine named him one of its 2016 Best New Chefs.

Semifinalists in this year’s Best Chef Mid-Atlantic category named in February included Victor Albisu of Del Campo in D.C., Erik Bruner-Yang, or Maketto in D.C., Peter Chang, with Peter Chang restaurants in Arlington and Rockville, and Cedric Maupillier of Convivial in D.C.

Silverman, along with Chang, made the finalists cut in March.
