BALTIMORE (AP) — Baltimore police are planning within the next couple of months to make public data on things such as complaints against officers.
The Baltimore Sun reports that Commission Kevin Davis announced the initiative at a public planning session on Saturday. Davis said police the internal affairs disciplinary data will be featured on a transparency page on its website.
Davis said police want to become more transparent to help foster a better relationship between law enforcement and the community.
Patrol officers, technical experts and residents met Saturday to what kind of data the public wants and how police can present that data. Sheets of sample data and graphs handed out by organizers included the number of complaints against police officers and outcome of investigations into the complaints, among other things.
