ARLINGTON, Va. — David Black will stay behind bars after being indicted and arrested for the murder of his estranged wife, Bonnie Black.
Bonnie Black, 42, was found dead with stab wounds in her Aurora Highlands home April 17 after neighbors noticed her children wandering outside of the home, unsupervised.
A special grand jury indicted David Black Thursday on one count of first-degree murder and one count of burglary while armed with the intent to commit a felony.
“[The Arlington County Police Department] worked around the clock, collected tons of evidence, consulted the Commonwealth attorneys and the state lab,” Arlington County Police spokesman Dustin Sternbeck said of the investigation into Bonnie Black’s death.
“The Arlington County community can feel a little bit safer knowing that David Black has been taken into custody and will no longer be in the community at this point.”
In court Friday morning, Black waived his arraignment, so his case for bond will be heard Nov. 5.
The couple was in the process of getting a divorce.
Police had searched David Black’s home as a person of interest in early September, but he was not arrested until after the grand jury heard evidence in the case.
