Police release sketch of W&OD Trail sex-assault suspect

WASHINGTON – Police are looking for the public’s help finding a man they say tried to abduct and sexually assault a woman on the Washington & Old Dominion trail last month.

The Arlington County police say the woman was attacked as she was running in the Glencarlyn Park area of the trail on July 31 at about 8:45 p.m. She was forced to the ground and the man tried to cover her mouth with his hand, they say, but she was able to scream and the man ran off.

The police say the man is dark-skinned and Hispanic; between 20 and 30 years old; about 5 feet, 6 inches tall, and about 140 pounds. They’ve released a sketch based on the woman’s description.

Police ask anyone with information about the man or the incident to call Detective K. Bercovicz at 703-228-4235 or email kbercovicz@arlingtonva.us or to submit information anonymously call 866-411-TIPS (8477).
