WASHINGTON — A St. Patrick’s Day driving while impaired arrest in Annapolis, Maryland involved a police chase, the suspect crashing into three cars and having his Honda Accord burst into flames near the Navy-Marine Corps Stadium on Rowe Boulevard.
Anne Arundel County Police say they’ve charged Marvis Montrell Pollock, 34, of Baltimore with four counts of assault, driving while impaired, fleeing and eluding by motor vehicle and numerous other related traffic charges.
The incident started about 8:30 p.m. when police say Pollock was driving erratically on northbound on Rowe Boulevard and swerved onto eastbound U.S. 50, nearly striking a DUI checkpoint.
Police tried to pull over the vehicle, but they say Pollock sped up and fled.
Officers followed him, pursuing him through the Arnold area and the Community College. A police helicopter then began tracking him as officers dropped back.
A news release says Pollock made his way back to Rowe Boulevard, where he “unsuccessfully attempted to drive through vehicles stopped at the red light striking three cars and disabling his car which later caught fire.”
Pollock was then arrested and found to be unlicensed and under the influence of a controlled dangerous substance. Police charged him with assault for the minor injuries three drivers and one passenger sustained. The four were taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center. Police say no one was seriously injured.
