Man extradited to Alexandria to face charges in stabbing death

WASHINGTON — An Alexandria man charged with murder for fatally stabbing a woman to death last month has been returned to the city.

Endalkachew Merid was extradited to Alexandria from D.C., where he was treated at a hospital for self-inflicted injuries, Alexandria police said Friday.

Merid was taken into police custody soon after police discovered June Seay, 55, dead inside a home on North Howard Street last month.

The two knew each other, police have said.

Merid was being held in the city’s detention center.
