Police: Man wanted for arson, allegedly setting woman on fire

WASHINGTON — Fairfax County police are searching for a man they believe set an Alexandria home, and a 64-year-old woman, on fire early Saturday morning.

Police said they have an arrest warrant for Lewis Edward Reed, of the same address, and are investigating how he allegedly set the woman on fire.

The fire was set at 4911 Keeler Court in the Woodlawn area of Alexandria, Virginia, just before 2 a.m., said Dan Gray, deputy chief with Fairfax Fire Rescue and EMS.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to find the house alight and a woman suffering from life-threatening burns, Gray said. The woman was transported to Washington Hospital Center. Officials believe Reed set the the woman on fire during an argument. The victim has not been identified.

Fire officials said two others in home were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation. It’s not clear how they are related to the suspect or victim.

Officials said the cause of the fire is still under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Detective Needels at 571-221-8131. You can also contact Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-8477 or send an email.
